Flag Raising Ceremony with Pulis GAPO Disiplinado

Date: January 23, 2023, at about 7:00 AM

“Fidelity and allegiance sworn to the King is only such a fidelity and obedience as is due to him by the law of the land; for were that faith and allegiance more than what the law requires, we would swear ourselves slaves and the King absolute; whereas, by the law, we are free men, notwithstanding those oaths.-Isaac Newton[1]

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Philippine Flag is recited at flag ceremonies immediately after the Patriotic Oath or, if the Patriotic Oath is not recited, after the national anthem.

The pledge was legalized under Executive Order No. 343, approved by then-President Fidel V. Ramos on Independence Day (June 12), 1996, and subsequently by the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines, or Republic Act No. 8491.[1] The law does not state what language the pledge must be recited in, but the promise is written (and therefore recited) in Filipino. Monday Flag Raising Ceremony with the Pulis GAPO disiplinado, led by City Director, PCOL CARLITO UDANI GRIJALDO.

I was responsible for taking charge as the Police trainees' platoon leader. Since I am currently in charge of a platoon in the Cadet Corps, it was a feeling I was acquainted with. The voice commands and executions we employ at the Academy are the same.

In the Philippines, pledging allegiance to the flag symbolizes a person's dedication and commitment to the country and the principles it upholds. The Panatang Makabayan, also known as the Flag Pledge, is performed during ceremonies in which the Philippine flag is raised to show respect for the nation it represents and the flag itself.

By reciting the pledge, Filipinos express their dedication to the values of honor, justice, and freedom that the flag represents, as well as their faith in God and their belief in the ability of the Filipino people to work together for a better Philippines. Additionally, they express their confidence in the power of God to provide for them and their families.

The pledge is essential to Philippine culture and is frequently uttered at key national events and holidays. This serves as a good reminder not just of the history and tradition of the country but also of the significance of national pride and identity. By reciting the pledge of loyalty to the flag, Filipinos are reminded of the importance of upholding the nation's core beliefs and values and working toward the country's overall improvement and advancement.

After the flag ceremony, PCOL GRIJALDO emphasized to the police force the importance of remaining vigilant in all circumstances. He informed us about the incident that occurred in other police stations regarding the purported death of students by a fellow student who was his classmate. He reminded every station in the city to keep the security in every school in the town at a high level. Students will be made aware of the potential penalties for committing such offenses if there is a police presence on campus, which will prevent situations like the one described above from occurring.

The police Gapo disciplined held a conference in which they discussed the occurrences that took place throughout the weekend. They were concerned about the need for more informed decision-making on the deployment of personnel within the station. PCOL GRIJALDO instructed them that as team leaders, it is their responsibility to know the whereabouts of their men. If those men are going to be transferred to different stations or posts, the commander should be informed before the transfer occurs. This is the first and most important rule: always notify the commander.
