About the Author

       "Shoot for the MOON. Even if you miss, you'll land among the STARS." - Norman Vincent Peale

       I am Police Cadet Mharverick Esmilla Bigueras, 25 years old from Sibul, Orani, Bataan, a cadet of the Philippine National Police Academy from the MASIDTALAK CLASS OF 2023, and the first platoon leader of Delta Company. I strive to increase my knowledge and skills to serve my future people and the general public more effectively. Phase 2 of the Cadet Attachment Program station immersion phase was completed at Olongapo City Police Station 3. I am making the most of my time and efforts to gain as much helpful information as possible for the future. My career will progress more smoothly if I can successfully apply the acquired skills and knowledge to this program. It is mine to employ in the future to guide my men along the correct path to excellence. I will use the utmost caution when selecting my future decisions and course of action as a result of the fact that everyone who observes the consequence of every move I make will be a reflection of my leadership. I want to be careful about what I do and what path I am going through.

       Setting an example of the behavior, beliefs, and work ethic you want your team to exhibit is known as "leading by example." You can accomplish this by being intentional with your words, deeds, and actions. You must lead by example if you want your team to be accountable, responsible, and hardworking. Follow corporate policies and procedures. Those leaders who do so demonstrate to their staff their dedication to abiding by rules and regulations. Be a moral leader. Leaders that are trustworthy and open about their decision-making develop respect and trust within their team. Support and promote learning. The value of ongoing education is demonstrated by leaders who show a keen interest in and encourage the professional development of their teams. By setting an excellent example for their team, developing trust, and fostering success at work, leaders may set a favorable tone for their organization.

       By remembering plebe knowledge, "What is Cadetship?" It is the grim struggle of winning supremacy over oneself. You are aware that you have overcome a lot and that there is no time to give up and regret; you will not be weak. I have proved that every difficulty has a conclusion and a time to relax and enjoy success or failure. Always keep in mind that you should be successful in your endeavors. Make sure there is no time to waste and effort to put into nothing. All sacrifices will be worth it, and you will learn from the values the Academy imparted to us. Achieving all of these values, someday I will be a good Police Commissioned Officer needed by the community.

       I want to give thanks to my friends whom I depended on back in the day, to my mentors, professors, and upperclassmen that shared their experiences that I can use in my future journey as a leader, and to my family that had given me inspiration and strength in my everyday life even before I entered the Academy and during my struggling days as a PNPA Cadet and most especially to the Almighty who guide me from all my decisions and extended his arms out wide to me when I need divine guidance.

       With my motto: "In everything we do, we shall do it for the glory of GOD." - 1 COR 10:30

LAW ENFORCEMENT CODE OF ETHICS

As a Law Enforcement Officer, my fundamental duty is to serve mankind; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the Constitutional rights of all men to liberty, equality, and justice.

I will keep my private life unsullied as an example to all; maintain courageous calm in the face of danger, scorn, or ridicule; develop self-restraint; and be constantly mindful of the welfare of others. Honest in thought and deed in both my personal and official life, I will be exemplary in obeying the laws of the land and the regulations of my department. Whatever I see or hear of a confidential nature or that is confided to me in my official capacity will be kept ever secret unless revelation is necessary in the performance of my duty.

I will never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities, or friendships to influence my decisions. With no compromise for crime and with relentless prosecution of criminals, I will enforce the law courteously and appropriately without fear or favor, malice, or ill will, never employing unnecessary force or violence and never accepting gratuities.

I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith, and I accept it as a public trust to be held so long as I am true to the ethics of the police service. I will constantly strive to achieve these objectives and ideals, dedicating myself before God to my chosen profession…

LAW ENFORCEMENT.

Anyway by Mother Teresa

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

LEADERSHIP

The capability to inspire, persuade, and direct other people toward accomplishing a shared objective or vision is what we mean when we talk about leadership. The ability to communicate, formulate sound judgments, and collaborate productively with others are all essential components of successful leadership.

SET AN EXAMPLE

People desire and require role models in their leaders. Although it is a great responsibility, leaders are powerless to avoid it. Nothing about leadership is more potent. Leaders must exhibit these qualities if they want their men to have courage, responsibility, initiative, competence, commitment, and integrity. People will copy the actions of a leader. Leaders are willing to do what is required of their men and establish high but attainable criteria for performance. Leaders discuss their struggles with their men because they know that conduct is influenced more by examples than instructions or punishment.

BE TECHNICALLY AND TACTICALLY PROFICIENT

The ability to have a complete and in-depth comprehension of the obligations required of the people one lead is one of the essential tenets of excellent leadership. This indicates that leaders need to be technically and tactically skilled in the work that their team members accomplish so that they can provide their men with direction and support when it is necessary to do so.

MAKE SOUND AND TIMELY DECISIONS

Leaders must act quickly to analyze the situation and weigh their options. They must understand when to make decisions, when to seek advice from others, and when to delegate the decision. Leaders must be aware of the variables to consider when choosing how, when, and when to act. Better decisions than the best ones made too late are those made at the appropriate time. When making a decision, please don't put it off or try to avoid doing so. Leaders that lack clarity breed uncertainty, loss of faith, and bewilderment. Under the most challenging circumstances, leaders must plan, use logic, and make swift decisions on what to do. Before making judgments, gather the necessary information. Make decisions and let people have time to respond.

The Pale Blue Eyes

The military asked alcoholic retired investigator Augustus Landor to look into Cadet Leroy Fry's hanging at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, in October 1830. Since his daughter Mattie went away a few years ago, Landor, a widower, has lived alone.

Fry's heart was extracted from his body after he was hanged. When Landor examines the body in the morgue, he discovers a little note fragment that Fry had been holding onto firmly. Additionally, the scars on Fry's fingers and neck indicate that he was murdered rather than hanging himself.

Edgar Allan Poe, a fellow cadet at the academy who has shown interest in the case, is recruited by Landor in secret. The writing on the message fragment leads Poe and Landor to believe that it calls Fry to a secret rendezvous. It is assumed that the murder may have been related to black magic practices after a butchered cow and a sheep were discovered nearby.

Ballinger, another cadet, goes missing and is subsequently discovered hanging with his heart and genitalia took. Landor assumes that a third cadet, Stoddard, a coworker of the two deceased, had cause to believe he was the next person to be slain when he vanished.

Platoon Leader to Platoon Leader

Ask yourself this question: “What do I want? Realizing my dreams or getting stuck in my fears? Do I follow my dream and harvest satisfaction, freedom, happiness, and abundance? Or do I lock myself up in my room with my good old irritation, lack of energy, fear, fatigue, and depression?” The choice is yours.
When I was still at college, I aspired and became a platoon leader in the Criminology Cadet Corps at Bataan Heroes College. This is the place from which all of my ambitions to join the police force began. I overcame obstacles that I would never have anticipated being able to conquer. In terms of my academic performance, I did not have any issues. On the other hand, I encountered a significant obstacle as I was moving toward fulfilling my ambition.

I had the opportunity to put my leadership skills to work at that school; nonetheless, we can say that this is a good beginning for me to attain my goals and develop into a well-rounded individual. I will need more funds to be able to continue with my academic pursuits. I became a working student at a fast-food restaurant to pursue my dream. After that, I started to understand the worth of money. I know that it is not a joke and that you have worked hard to obtain it. I was able to experience firsthand the struggles that my parents were enduring so that our family could fulfill our daily obligations of attending school and receiving proper food. Because of my efforts, I was accepted into the third year of college. Even though I was running behind schedule in progress toward my objective, I never gave up and stopped dreaming.
